Our company has produced the installation of used tires recycling by the method of low-temperature pyrolysis. The installation is based on prototypes of the equipment manufactured in the city of Krivoy Rog and Orsk (Russia), with the participation of leading Ukrainian institutions. In contrast to other installations it works and works effectively. Subsequently, the pyrolysis installation was included in the line, which provides integrated tire processing, with maximum process automation. The installation has been exploited since 2006.  Every big and small city has a great problem of utilization of tires. Year by year the number of cars increases and the number of worn-out tires increases correspondingly. Common city dumps don’t take worn-out tires for utilization; parking lots are already overfilled with them, so these waste products are knocked down to roadsides, plantings and ravines, etc. According to the study conducted by American and Swedish experts the tires are a very dangerous part of the car as the dust, which arises in the result of rubber amortization, can cause very serious illnesses.

In order to provide denser piling of raw materials into the retort the tires can be cut, however with the more dense piling the process becomes longer. For example when loading 0,5 t of tires the cycle makes 10-11 hours, and while loading 0,8 t of tires the cycle makes 16 hours. Tire cutting process is illustrated on the video and goes according to the following algorithm: at first tire bead is cut and then the tire is carved with the help of special scissors for tire cutting.
Whole or cut pieces of tires are loaded into retort (basket) after that the retort is put into the pyrolysis installation (reactor) with the help of telpher or other lifting mechanism. There it is heated up to 500 °C with no access of oxygen (pyrolysis process).

Economic benefit from 1 unit of our pyrolysis installation (tank) is 170-440 USD per day. The set can include 1 – 12 units of pyrolysis installation. It is recommended to use even number of installations. We got rid of smoke, smell and unextinguished rubber; solved the problems that had disturbed all the sanitary, fire engineering and environmental services. The operation of our boiler is followed only by the soft noise of ventilators and the obtained product conforms to the consumers’ requirements.

In 2011 the following changes were applied to the installation:
- the KPI of the installation was increased
- the service life of the pyrolysis installation was increased
- condensation and gas purification were improved
- charcoal filter was substituted with a more reliable water filter
- installation works continuously
- guaranteed volume of recycling is 1 ton/day
- cooling of carbon residue is provided in the retort
