| Classification and selection of charcoal burning kilns |
|
The installations (kilns) for charcoal production can be classified next way:
By the capture of liquid products: 1. with partial capture 2. with capture 3. with steam-gas mixture burning 4. without capture
By the combination with other operations: 1. drying, pyrolysis, cooling 2. drying and pyrolysis 3. pyrolysis and charcoal cooling 4. only pyrolysis 5. combination with coal activation
By the way of heat supply: 1. with internal heat carrier 2. through the wall
By the way of raw material moving: 1. motionless 2. in trolleys 3. for account of moving working area or pushing equipment 4. unloading equipment 5. under own weight
By the material: 1. steel (retorts) 2. brick (kilns) 3. concrete and other materials
By the mode of operation: 1. semicontinuous 2. continuous 3. periodic
By the portability: 1. movable 2. dismountable 3. stationary
By the orientation: 1. vertical 2. horizontal 3. inclined
The next factors should be noticed when choosing the charcoal burning installation:
a) will the installation work stationary b) how close is the dwelling zone situated c) is there an electricity on the working area d) provision with raw material and distance from the raw material base
To provide high output of charcoal from 1 m3 of the wood it is very important to control the process of charcoal production. The steams tear the wood during intensive drying under the high temperature. The charcoal becomes law-quality, frail and cracked. By the high-speed pyrolysis the charcoal output is 30-50% less than by the long time staying in the hot zone.
When choosing a stationary kiln the best variant is CBK-type kilns, such as CBK5 and CBK5a. This is time-tested variant which provides a good quality of charcoal and doesn’t require electricity; it is necessary to notice the shortcomings of the kiln: atmospheric emissions, no automation, human factor, difficulties in the process control.
By the abovementioned classification the kiln should be referred to:
By the capture of liquid products: without capture; By the combination with other operations: drying, pyrolysis, cooling; By the way of heat supply: with internal heat carrier; By the way of raw material moving: motionless; By the material: steel (retorts); By the mode of operation: periodic; By the portability: movable; By the orientation: horizontal.
CK “Bezzolnaya” is referred to the product line of CK kilns produced in our enterprise. The efficiency of this type kilns amounts 15 tones/month.
CBK5 and CBK5a were developed by the group of soviet scientists in 50th when there were no problems with expensive constructions and materials. Taking into account the operating experience we created CK “Bezzolnaya” – analog of CBK5a, having removed unreliable connections and improved the construction. Besides having used additional equipment we reduced atmospheric emissions. At the moment there are 80 % of kilns using this technology of charcoal burning. If the matter is large and stationary manufacture from 100 tones per month, one should think over the installation of the “Ekalon” or “Polikor” type kiln, i.e. the kiln with removable metal retorts, continuously working, that requires using of tower crane or other lifting mechanism (not less than 3 tones capacity). Such kilns should be produced at the operation site because consist of brick framework. Only separate parts of the kiln can be produced by the manufacturing factory. Producers that propose you the kilns of such type in the assembled condition won’t be able to provide long-term working period of the kiln.
We propose the complete set of technical documents to this type of kiln (CK “Kudesnitsa”). Among the shortcomings of the kiln are high costs, impossibility of dismantling and transportation, necessity to use expensive lifting mechanisms, injury risk of the operating staff. The positive side is environmental safety, technological effectiveness, comparatively high coefficient of efficiency, controlled process.
In consideration of abovementioned factors of production up-to-date kiln for charcoal burning should possess next properties:
a) ecological compatibility b) moderate price c) transportability d) technological effectiveness e) control under the process f) high efficiency
These tasks were set and implemented by the specialists of our company for the CK “EURO” production. The kiln id unique and doesn’t have analogs in the world. Its efficiency is up to 50 t/month, therefore you receive portable analog of the “Ekalon” type kiln.
Classification of CK “EURO”
By the capture of liquid products: with steam-gas mixture burning; By the orientation: horizontal. By the combination with other operations: drying and pyrolysis; By the way of heat supply: through the wall; By the way of raw material moving: in trolleys; By the material: brick, other mixtures and metal; By the mode of operation: continuous; By the portability: dismountable;
